Zoho POS is the retail point-of-sale system Zoho built specifically for the Indian market. It launched in India in February 2024 under the name Zakya and was rebranded to Zoho POS in October 2025. If you researched it under the old name, it is the same product, with data, settings and integrations carried over.
What it does
Counter billing through a native app on Windows, iOS and Android.
Offline billing. The till keeps working when your internet drops, which in most Indian retail locations is a matter of when rather than if. This is the single feature that decides the purchase for a lot of store owners.
Ten Indian languages besides English, covering Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati. Staff bill in the language they are comfortable in, which cuts training time considerably.
Inventory managed in the same place as billing, so stock moves as you sell.
Back-office console for inventory, customers, transactions and vendor data.
Reporting on sales, stock movement and store performance.
Mobile store, optionally, letting customers browse and order from their phones with delivery or in-store pickup.
Payments through integrated partners, so card and digital payments reconcile rather than being keyed in twice.
Zoho positions setup as achievable in about an hour for a straightforward store. That is broadly fair for a simple catalogue. It is not the case if you are migrating thousands of SKUs with existing stock, which is where implementation help earns its cost.
The GST part
Fast billing is only half of it. The other half is whether what comes out of the till is defensible at filing time.
We configure tax rates against HSN codes at item level, so counter invoices are GST-compliant as issued rather than corrected later. Sales then flow into Zoho Books with correct tax treatment, and your GSTR-1 is built from real transaction data instead of a monthly summary someone typed up.
For a retailer running hundreds of transactions a day, that difference is the whole month-end.
What we set up
- Store, terminal and user configuration
- Item master and catalogue build, with HSN codes and tax rates
- Migration of items and stock from your existing POS or spreadsheets
- Opening stock reconciliation
- Hardware setup and testing, covering barcode scanners, receipt printers and cash drawers
- Payment integration
- Zoho Books integration
- Multi-store configuration where relevant
- Counter staff training
- Optional ongoing bookkeeping and GST filing
Hardware
We supply and configure the peripherals a counter needs, including scanners, printers and cash drawers, and test them against your setup so nothing is discovered on day one of trading. Tell us your store layout and counter count and we will quote.
Where this fits
Single stores moving off manual or handwritten billing. Multi-store retailers who want one stock and sales view. Retailers already on Zoho Books who want the counter feeding the same system.
If you sell online too, Zoho Commerce shares the same catalogue and stock. For the accounting side, see Zoho Finance, or our full Zoho services.
